We have built a trailer on an old caravan chassis which contains 2 compost toilets and a gas-heated shower. A solar-heated shower is under construction as an alternative, possibly depending on the weather! The showers offer Faith in Nature bodywash as all the waste water drains into our field. There is also a washing up sink with hot water and soakaway-friendly washing up liquid.

Recycling is really important to us and a condition of being licensed by The Greener Camping Club is that we offer extensive options for disposing of waste separately. Of course, the best option is to opt for reusable items in the first place. For example, the tap water here tastes great so there’s no need to buy bottled water! We discourage the use of ‘disposable’ barbecues by offering barbecue hire, complete with locally made charcoal and firelighters. Compost bins for food waste are provided on all pitches but if you have any food you don’t want to take home, please consider passing it on to other campers rather than throwing it away.

Campfires are encouraged, subject to weather conditions. It may not be safe if it’s very windy (great views do mean we’re very exposed!) or very dry. Firepits for each pitch are included in your stay and come with a bucket for you to fill with water just in case. Firewood is available in reusable crates from the honesty shop. Ash from fires and barbecues goes back onto our land or to the chickens for their dust baths so please only burn wood and charcoal!

The honesty shop stocks firewood, locally made charcoal, marshmallows and other essentials including torches. Suggestions are welcome!
