Terms and Conditions
Hazel Meadow Camping is the trading name of Amanda Cooke.
By making a booking you accept the following Terms & Conditions:
In order to comply with countryside planning policy, we operate as a Greener Camping Club members-only campsite. The Club was established by people with a passion for sustainable, eco-friendly camping holidays. When you book your holiday with us, you will be enrolled as a member of the Club. Membership costs just £12 for the calendar year and gives you access to some of the greenest campsites in the UK. It also includes participation in the Club’s ‘Trees for Life’ scheme, whereby a tree is planted for every member we enrol.
Cancellation by you
If we receive notification from you that you wish to cancel your booking, you are entitled to a full refund minus a £20 administration fee if it is greater than 30 days before the first day of your booking.
If it is between 15 and 30 days you will receive a 50% refund of the total booking charge.
If it is less than 14 days or after the booking start date, no refund will be given.
Your £12 Greener Camping Club membership is non-refundable and you cannot withdraw your membership. You will continue to be a member of the Greener Camping Club and can continue to enjoy the benefits of your membership and use it to stay at other GCC certified campsites.
Cancellation by us
Hazel Meadow Camping reserves the right to cancel your booking at short notice if we are unable to provide a safe camping environment, due to extreme weather conditions, ill health, fire, flooding or any other extenuating circumstances beyond our control.
Under such circumstances, your full payment will be returned to you.
Hazel Meadow Camping cannot accept liability or responsibility for any loss, including consequential loss, caused by cancellation.
The Greener Camping Club membership fee is not refundable.
Arrival and Departure
Please arrive between 2pm and 8pm and depart by 11am, leaving your pitch clean and tidy and your waste recycled.
Children and hazards
There are many opportunities for play and adventure at Hazel Meadow. As we are a working farm there are contingent risks to be aware of. We have sheep, chickens and donkeys and use a tractor and mower onsite.
The biggest risk for children is water. Our stream is small and fenced off and indeed, not often evident during the summer months. However, please do not climb over the fence.
We encourage campfires.
Kites and other flying items are not permitted due to overhead power lines.
These risks are small and should be self-evident. Please ask if anything is not clear.
Hazel Meadow Camping accepts no responsibility for injury incurred on site.
Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children on site at all times.
Cars and Campervans
Cars must be left in the parking area. Please use the wheelbarrows provided to transport your gear. We’re happy to help if required.
Campervans must drive carefully to and from their pitch. If the ground is deemed too soft by us, e.g. after prolonged heavy rain, we may need to postpone your booking.
Recycling and Rubbish
Please consider what you bring along with you. It is a condition of camping here that you recycle your rubbish. Please separate your waste and place it in the bins provided for all recyclable waste. Only items that are not recyclable should be placed in the small landfill bin.
Wildlife
Wildlife will surround you at Hazel Meadow. Try to discourage its natural instincts to raid your camp by putting food in sealed boxes and putting any waste (especially food waste) in the recycling bins before you zip up your tent for the night.
Campfires and Firewood
Please use the firepits provided and ensure they are not too close to tents or campervans, taking into account the wind direction. It may not be appropriate to have a fire if it it’s windy! Firewood is available to purchase in returnable crates, including firelighters and kindling. Please only burn this as we recycle the ash on the land at Hazel Meadow to improve our soils and the chickens enjoy it in their dust baths! A bin is provided for your ash. We reserve the right to enforce a fire ban during extremely dry conditions.
Dogs
No dogs are permitted at Hazel Meadow.
Weather
The exposed position of our site which gives us our fabulous views also means that we can be subjected to extreme weather conditions. Very strong winds and torrential rain can occur at any time of year, though we are fortunate in that we do not flood. You must ensure that your tent is robust and correctly erected.
Grass
If your stay is for longer than 7 days, you must move your tent to a fresh patch within your pitch to allow the grass to recover.
Loss of Property
Hazel Meadow Camping cannot be held responsible for any lost or stolen property.
Consideration for Others
This is a peaceful, quiet campsite for the enjoyment of nature, and we have neighbours nearby. We do not allow radios, stereos or other sound systems, although acoustic instruments are permitted. Quiet talking only is permitted after 10.00pm. Noisy visitors who disturb other guests will be asked politely to leave, without refund (this has never needed to happen). If you are out for the night and arrive back late, please be considerate and make sure you have a torch to find your way to your tent or campervan.
As a Greener Camping Club site, if the behaviour of a Member, or a member of their group causes nuisance to other Members, or there is persistent violation of these terms and conditions, the Site Owner is empowered to instruct the Member to cease the behaviour/violation, or leave the site immediately without refund.
